AC® Unity VB Added to Select Variety List for Warburtons Food IP Program
/ December 11, 2009
| Warburtons Foods, in conjunction with SeCan, are pleased to announce the addition of AC® Unity VB to the select variety list for Warburtons Foods IP Program. "Warburtons Foods has been testing AC® Unity VB for a number of years and the quality is very good" said Adam Dyck, Program Manager Warburtons Foods. AC® Unity VB was bred by Dr. Stephen Fox at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Cereal Research Centre in Winnipeg, and is among the first CWRS varieties that possess the Sm1 gene for midge tolerance. SeCan has worked closely with Warburtons Foods and is pleased to offer producers new technology for this IP program. "AC® Unity VB exceeds quality standards and offers producers an excellent agronomic package, all the while being a top yielder. If that wasn't good enough, AC® Unity VB is also one of the first CWRS varieties with tolerance to Orange Wheat Blossom Midge" said Todd Hyra, SeCan's Business Manager for Western Canada. Warburtons will be accepting a limited number of AC® Unity VB acres this year. Producers are encouraged to talk with the Warburtons Foods contracting station regarding availability. "This is the first step in Warburtons Foods' initiative to upgrade the current varieties being contracted in our program" said Adam Dyck. "We anticipate having more exciting announcements in the next few years". |
